Shambhala Music Festival has officially postponed again, moving from 2021 to 2022. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Shambhala was forced to postpone (in other words, cancel) its 2020 event. Now, as festival season draws near once again, organizers give a much needed update in the post below. In light of the ongoing public health order and border closures, Shambhala is unable to continue as planned for 2021. This news follows an announcement from British Columbia Public Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry concerning new restrictions across British Columbia. “Things like international travel, international gatherings, large festivals that have people coming from multiple places are not likely to happen this year,” Henry said during a press conference on March 18. Shambhala shares: …it has become clear that proceeding in 2021 is not possible. Like you, we are more than ready for live music to return, but there are still too many unknowns right now. Please rest assured that we have already begun planning for Shambhala 2022. The return of Shambhala in 2022 will be truly spectacular and a special event for our Farmily. Until then, organizers ask that we take forth the spirit of Shambhala: “Love one another, embrace our differences, dance like no one’s watching, express yourself, and always, be kind.” Ticket holders are asked to sign up for Shambhala’s e-newsletter for updates. Check out the FAQs page here for more info. Shambhala Postponed to 2022

NERO have done it again — unleashing their third unexpected edit in just over a week. Following up revivals of iconic tracks, Daft Punk‘s “Emotion” and Tame Impala‘s “Disciples,” NERO have reimagined Frankie Goes To Hollywood‘s smash hit “Relax.” We’re absolutely living for these bootlegs, because there’s a raw, gritty edge underlying the tracks when experienced through the NERO lens. In just days, edits from the NERO archives to hit Audius have racked up tens of thousands of plays. The group have uploaded three edits thus far — and, rest assured, there are plenty more to follow. Coming up on Welcome Reality‘s 10th anniversary, we anticipate the reemergence of one of dance music’s most prominent acts. The album originally released on August 12, 2011, giving life to instant timeless classics including “Doomsday,” “Innocence,” “Crush On You” and “Promises.” Listen to NERO’s take on “Relax” here! Chris Lake joins forces with Italian producer Riva Starr and producer/vocalist lau.ra on the EP’s leading track, “Beat Freak.” Featuring a dynamic beat and acid-style lyrics, “Beat Freak” equates to a track that you can expect to hear in tech house sets everywhere in 2021. “Trippin” by Dubesque is the second track on the EP, which manages to carry a repetitive beat without ever sounding boring. The single comes after a busy 2020 for Dubesque, which saw multiple EPs released. The compilation also introduces us to a new producer, Fourword. “Snake Charmer” is the debut single by Fourword and has already broken into the Top 10 of the Beatport Top 100 Tech House chart, alongside Chris Lake’s “Beat Freak.” The four-track EP closes with “Like I Don’t Exist – NightFunk Remix.” This snappy NightFunk tune breathes new life into the 2020 release by Nicky Night Time via Black Book Records. NightFunk improves on the bassline, adding new depth, and also downplays the vocal sampling of the original track. Listen to the compilation — which we hope is the first of many — here. This Friday, that changes when he drops a brand new collaboration with rising star ISOxo called “Stinger.” RL shared a teaser of the track yesterday morning, showing off the dark and foreboding atmosphere of the song and cutting it off right at the drop, giving us the perfect cliffhanger leading into Friday. ISOxo was named one of Your EDM’s Top 40 Artists To Watch in 2021 and a collaboration with the king of trap, Sable Valley’s founder RL Grime is as good an indication as any that he’s living up to the prediction. Check out the teaser below and join us in waiting for Friday!

The release of the UNDERPLAYED documentary stirred up some much needed conversation and the all-women digital festival lineups didn’t go unnoticed — but, there’s still a long way to go. Nine out of ten women creatives agree that the music business treats female artists differently from male artists. 81% think that it is harder for female artists to get recognition than male artists. According to new research titled BE THE CHANGE: Women Making Music from MIDiA Research, TuneCore and Believe, women face various pressing issues in the music industry — and unfortunately, the most cited of them is sexual harassment. A startling 64% of participants in the study reported experiences of sexual harassment / objectification while working as songwriters, artists, producers and/or DJs. Biggest Challenges: Sexualization and objectification (64%), ageism (38%), lack of access to male-dominated industry resources (36%) and lower pay (27%). Challenges facing women in the music industry are broken down into three glaring categories — Discrimination which includes sexual harassment, ageism and lower pay; Resources: which includes male dominated resources, getting representation, and lack of female-first resources; and finally, Confidence including lack of confidence, lack of female role models, and the fact labels are male dominated. 42% of creators want to see more impact, and sooner. There are some reassuring findings as well, because women have felt more empowered and confident to speak up. 42% of creators want to see more impact and 35% of creators are hopeful for change to come from learning and shared experiences in the form of coaching and mentoring. Teaming up with a variety of artists like Quinn XCII, Bob Moses, Foster The People, EARTHGANG, and more, it was a brilliant depiction of their carefree aesthetic and joyful, exuberant style of production. Now, fans can enjoy the deluxe version of the album, which adds singles “Here Comes A Feeling” with Naomi Wild and Couros, “Self Care” with COIN, and “Somewhere Else” with BabyJake, as well as a brand new single, “Sleep // Wake.” LTC didn’t say much with the release of the deluxe album, so it’s hard to say why these 4 tracks weren’t just released as an EP instead, or why the deluxe album didn’t include remixes or more than just 3 previously released singles and one new track, but it’s a bit beside the point. “Sleep // Wake” is a beautiful instrumental journey for the ears and worth the listen to the whole album again! Check it out below.

It’s bouncy is a super off-kilter way, and still bass heavy enough to make your floor shake at home or your ribs rattle live. Although how something at this tempo would fit into a live set is beyond my current imagination — I’ll leave that up to the professionals. Both new singles have seen the duo level up in a sense, as well as updating their branding with a new logo. When asked about their new logo, Nathan of the duo said, “Our little ghost definitely did grow up a bit. Honestly so did we, not only as musicians & performers but as people, and from that we just felt like it was time to “age” up the ghost in a way that reflects our own lives.” We’re looking to see more of Hi I’m Ghost’s glow up this year. In the meantime, stream “Squiggy” below! This article was first published on Your EDM. Keeping with the hau5trap theme, deadmau5 provides a steady groove complete with a soft kick, chill plucks and unexpected glitches. hau5trap label zeros in on “textural, groove driven, melodic sounds,” providing a new, exhilarating space for music discovery. “Nextra” marks the label’s second release, following “Hiiigh” from mau5trap mainstay Tommy Trash and singer/songwriter Daisy Guttridge. Speaking on the new label, deadmau5 shares: “With hau5trap, we get to support more things we love specifically in house music.” The producer recently announced his day of the deadmau5 3-day music festival scheduled for this October in Miami. Acoustic/dance duo Junge Junge cross paths with the awesome Moguai, and each force has amassed millions of their own streams online. Together with the singer Nathan Nicholson comes ‘Call On Me,’ something perfect for spring sunshine listening. Bringing into play some slow-burning riffs and silky smooth chord progressions, Nicholson’s tones are wrapped effortlessly around the dynamics that Junge Junge and Moguai bring to the table.
