Flaremode Shares How They Are Staying Positive & Creating Lots Of Music During Lockdown In Bangkok4/30/2020 COVID-19 has not only impacted the how we can live our lives, but for some, it’s actually impacted where they have to call home until the restrictions lift. One person going through that is Jonny Chiappetta, one half of Italian DJ duo Flaremode. Jonny was traveling in Thailand for their Asia tour before the country began enforcing strict lockdown in March. Italy did the same, which removed any possibility from Jonny being able to return home. Despite being kept to Bangkok, Jonny has found ways to stay inspired and keep his motivation and creativity at a high level despite the hysteria this pandemic has caused. In his interview with AsiaLive365, he discussed how despite him only having his headphones and macbook, that’s enough for him to continue finishing more and more music with his other half, Francesco and continue on their upwards trajectory. Since January, they have managed to sign 11 songs on seven different labels for 2020, including Smash the House [Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s label], Doorn Records, Dharma Worldwide [KSHMR’s label], and even Revealed Recordings [Hardwell’s label]. Despite all that’s been going on, Flaremode has been a beacon of inspiration for all of us working through this by staying focused and implementing habits to help them grow and get better. They shared a lot of great tips in their interview, including insightful tips on signing songs to big labels, how they can maintain a heavy workload, and advice for aspiring producers. COVID-19 has had an immense impact on all of our lives, but the response to help combat this devastating pandemic has been extraordinary, especially in the music industry. Our friends over at The Nocturnal Times have put together something really special, World On Pause Festival, to help those who have suffered greatly from the Coronavirus and it all begins tomorrow, May 1st. World On Pause Festival will feature over 60 artists from May 1st – May 3rd, including Arty, Sofi Tukker, and Sander Van Doorn, with all proceeds and fan donations going towards three charities to raise money for COVID-19. The three charities to benefit from World On Pause include: The Recording Academy’s MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund; Feed the Children; and the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. Airing on MrRevillz’s YouTube channel and Pioneer DJ’s Twitch, music lovers can tune in for three full days of entertainment, including DJ sets and live performances. You can also RSVP ahead of the festival and you will be entered to win prizes from Pioneer DJ, including DJ Gear (XDJ-RX2, DDJ-SX3, DDJ-800) and headphones (HDJ-X10, HDJ-X7, HDJ-X5). Entry for the giveaway will remain open all three festival days on WorldOnPauseFestival.com and winners will be selected and notified in the days following the one-time event. World On Pause Festival will be free to view each day, but viewers are strongly encouraged to donate to one or more of the fundraising charities. (donations can be submitted from now up until Monday, May 4) World On Pause Festival is an incredible way for both artists and fans to come together and help support those in need. Along with the “Music to Our Ears!” competition, where fans are encouraged to “show off your love of music using LEGO bricks,” certain fan-made designs have a chance to be made into official designs supported and sold by the company. One father and son duo are taking their love of Daft Punk to the building block world with a full, and quite accurate, recreation of the iconic Alive 2007 stage design. The design is now one of the top 10 entries in the competition. Patrick Harboun reached out to Your EDM to explain the inspiration behind the design. To cheer up my 8 year old son during our isolation, we’ve entered a Lego competition about music. We’ve both big Daft Punk fans: I’ve spent my high school years listening to Homework on my Walkman. My son’s favourite song when he was 1 was Get Lucky (actually it was the only song he was willing to listen, although, to keep our sanity and be allowed to listen to other songs in our life, my wife and I eventually managed to extend his appreciation to the whole Daft Punk discography). So we’ve built a set looking like the Alive 2007 pyramid stage. Not only does the set feature an accurate portrayal of the stage in blocks, it also features functional lights thanks to LEGO Night Mode. The whole design is comprised of 2000 blocks. The cool part about all this is that UMG also happens to be the label on which Daft Punk released their first three studio albums. On the partnership, LEGO Group CMO, Julia Goldin says, “We know music is a huge passion for so many children, it has an incredible ability to engage and unite children and their families, just like the LEGO brick. This partnership will see us celebrate the power of merging music and the LEGO System in Play, providing children with a whole new way to creatively express themselves by bringing to life music in their own world, their own way.” This article was first published on Your EDM. But with little to no projected revenue for the remainder of 2020, the ticketing company has just furloughed a quarter of its workers. Employees were apparently caught off guard as they were assured they would be taken care of, but as the situation continues to change, early promises would have to be re-examined. Ticketmaster president Jared Smith said in the letter obtained by Variety, “For the very first time in the history of live entertainment, the industry is completely shut down,” describing that a few months ago, the situation would’ve “seemed incomprehensible.” Furloughs are set to take effect May 1, but workers will still be given full health benefits as well as 1 to 2 weeks of payout from their earned time off. Ticketmaster has also assured those furloughed that they will be brought back “as soon as live performances start again.” The decision comes on the heels of a SEC filing from Live Nation on April 13 that stated that the company was looking toward a $500 million cost reduction plan for this year, including “reducing contractors, renegotiating rent, and paring back other discretionary spending.” Executives were not spared from the culling either, as Live Nation President/ CEO Michael Rapino has already relinquished his remaining salary for the year in a statement earlier this month. Rapino said that “to date there are 50,000 events that have been canceled, postponed or rescheduled globally on the TM Platform.” He further said that “60% of the over 50,000 events that have been canceled, postponed and rescheduled globally on the TM Platform have been authorized for refunds — and we have already returned over $400 million to fans.” With concerts and festivals unlikely to return in 2020 (sports events will likely return sooner, but when remains up in the air), the entire music industry faces a hard year ahead of it.

Unfortunately, with each passing week, that is looking more and more unlikely. Bassnectar has just announced the cancellation of all remaining 2020 special events, including Freestyle Sessions, The Be Interactive 808 Festival, and the thirteenth annual Bass Center in September. “[…] not only does it appear impossible that these events will be able to happen as planned, but also: we want to do what is best for you! We respect and value your participation and that you have hundreds of dollars of your hard-earned money invested into these events, and we want to get that money back to you now so you can use it as you need it. (refunds will take place automatically – please allow 30 days for the money to hit your account depending on how your banks/credit cards processes refunds. Thank you for your love & patience)” The official statement continues as Bassnectar offers his own personal thoughts on everything going on right now, calling for people to “take some time to reflect with an OPEN MIND” and look toward the presidential election in November. You can read his full statement below.

He won’t be the first to do it — Oliver Heldens DJ’d on the back of a boat in Amsterdam for his Room Service Festival set last weekend, but he was relatively alone while doing so. In the promo for Garrix below, it seems like he’s being trailed by a hoard of other boats, seemingly comprised of his own team, extra film crew, and even some fans by the looks of it. All we know is this is “coming soon” so we’ll have to wait and see when we get to experience this in full. For now, check out the teaser below!

According to a new poll from Reuters/Ipsos released earlier this week, less than half those polled were willing to revisit these entertainment options before a vaccine was available. Specifically, the poll found that only four in ten “who follow sports avidly” and go to other entertainment venues would do so before a vaccine was available. Another four in ten said they were willing to wait, “even if it takes more than a year to develop a vaccine.” The poll showed that only 27% of those questioned would go to a movie theater, concert or live theater performance when venues reopen. Thirty-two percent said they would wait for a vaccine before going back to the movies, theater or concerts. The remainder were undecided, or said they may never attend those events again. “Just because people say we can go back, until people feel fully safe … they aren’t going to go back,” said Victor Matheson, a specialist in sports economics at the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts. Matheson continued, “We go to games for entertainment and you’re not going to be very entertained if you’re not worrying about who the next player to bat is and instead worrying about that person who just coughed two rows down.” While as many as 100 potential vaccines are in development around the world, scientists are projecting that bringing one to market could take 18 months. The Reuters/Ipsos poll surveyed 4,429 American adults from April 15 to 21, asking about their previous attendance at sports events and live concerts and their interest in attending if they reopened before a coronavirus vaccine is available. The poll questions noted a vaccine might not be available for more than a year.

Porter Robinson was joining Tiësto on his college invasion tour, Deadmau5 and Skrillex were still buds, and Justin Bieber was a young lad at just 17 years old. But even back then, the mau5âs ire ran deep on social media, and he had a particular distaste for the Canadian pop star. Yesterday, back in 2011, acclaimed photographer Rukes was on tour with Deadmau5 when they decided to hit up a nearby Skrillex gig in Australia. Somehow coincidentally, Bieberâs photographer was also in the area and showed up at the show, and handed mau5 a signed photograph complete with the message, âdeadmou5 [sic] i will kill you!â
Deadmau5 talked about the encounter in a podcast with H3 back in 2018. This article was first published on Your EDM. During his set for Room Service this past weekend (which you can now see in full below), he dropped three new IDs from the album. Better yet, you donât even have to go digging for them â k?d dropped all the new IDs in a convenient Instagram post for you to go back and listen to as often as you like. The first is a wildly emotional, staggered-synth sort of futuristic vibe that packs a lot of punch while still being abundantly beautiful. The second is another feels-y track with more vocal chops and a heavier bassline. It breaks for a second and comes back with an even more effervescent future bass drop. The third and final drop is the same sort of basic formula, with wildly different ingredients. Itâs glitchy and future bass with a bit more of a Porter vibe to it, and an addictive tempo.
