There are those rare artists that really plan an EP or album from start to finish. Noting every minute detail to curate a complete audio and user experience. Such a case occurs on the latest EP with mysterious rising star, NICOLAS. Starting the EP with an incredible inspiring monologue about we forget to live from feeling, we are immediately prepared for the oncoming experience. ‘Test Drive’ the first complete track offers subtle harmonies and beautiful melodies backed with kicking bass. Followed by the track, ‘After Dark’ which continues a similar theme with soothing waves of synth and a higher octave array of melodies. ‘Want It’ offers a beautiful landscape with with subtle but emotionally raw vocals. ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ has a catchy melody and groove ready for any night drive. ‘Obsession’ a deep progressive sound that inspires any deep house and techno lover with a powerful bassline climaxing a sensational groove. Finishing this EP with my personal favourite. ‘Silence’, a complete orchestra of vocoder emotion and powerful lingering lyrics that stay with you. This EP is a seriously complete body of work and something that can take you far far away from any struggles. Enjoy this super talented producer, NICOLAS and ‘Forget to Feel’ EP. Originally, Eric Prydz was set to bring his awe-inspiring Holosphere production to both major events in 2020. Dates then got pushed to 2021 due to the pandemic. Ultimately, following postponements, both festivals have been rescheduled for the same exact weekend this year, which poses logistical issues for Prydz and his team. Creamfields addresses the change in a recent email blast: Due to Tomorrowland announcing they are moving to the same weekend as Creamfields, it is now impossible for Eric’s team to transport and build the Holosphere in time to play both festivals. As Creamfields and Tomorrowland are both equally invested in Holosphere, a mutual decision to move the shows to 2022 has been reluctantly taken. We appreciate some fans will be disappointed, as we are, but rest assured we will deliver an equally special live performance with Eric to blow your minds! That being said, Eric Prydz’s Holosphere will have to wait for Creamfields and Tomorrowland in 2022. Both festivals are set for August Bank Holiday, August 26-29, 2021, with Tomorrowland also taking place the following weekend, September 3-5. The lineup for Tomorrowland has yet to be announced, but the Creamfields lineup is available to view here. This article was first published on Your EDM. Over the course of 214 seconds, the song goes from one genre to another with surprising each, each transition making use of SWARM’s extensive production abilities. “This song is reminiscent of everything I loved about EDM when I first started listening,” SWARM says. “Drezo’s dark house style played a huge part in influencing the way I looked at electronic music when I started, but I never got to fully explore the house genre and truly make it my own until now.” He continues, “At the same time, I also love the wide-open dark sound of bigroom – even though it quickly died off, I knew that eventually I’d make a song with a gritty, SWARM-y bigroom element.” The big room element comes in toward the middle/end and opens up the room in the production going from trap to a darker style, perfectly analyzing and utilizing the advantages of the genre and pushing the less desirable elements to the side. “With festivals coming back this year, I felt that now is the perfect time to give everyone something that reminds me of why I fell in love with electronic music to begin with – but making it heavy, dark, and very much ‘me.’ Using my own vocals for the first time in this project just made it that much more special.” Yep, debut SWARM vocal track, too. “Throw Me In The Fire” is out now, check it out below! And for as long as these two have existed, people have wanted them to collaborate… that’s (more than) likely a hefty exaggeration, but based on interactions on social media, that’s sometimes what it felt like. This past Friday, the two bombastic producers finally released their debut collaboration, “One More Day” with Chandler Leighton. With Blanke coming from the world of midtempo, but representing so much more, and Jason Ross coming from trance and house, and likewise producing so much more, Ophelia was the perfect receptacle for their debut collaboration. It’s an absolutely beautiful tempest of of intense chords, meaningful lyrics and expressive vocals, and plenty of memorable moments. Based on the crowds that both artists attract, you can bet that this will be one of the highlight moments of either’s sets, with everyone belting out every single word, holding hands and swaying at the first drop, summarily losing their shit at the second, and simply passing away at the third. For EDM artists, it’s a bit different, as so many don’t jump straight into albums like many pop or rock artists, but can release singles and EPs for years before dropping an album, if they ever do. For Israeli producer/DJ Whales, it’s taken at least four EPs and countless singles since 2015, and also a total name change, to get to this point, with the release of his debut album, Pelagios, out now on Subsidia Records. Spanning 13 songs, including a collaboration with Subsidia founder Excision, as well as RIELL, Herculez, iFeature, Kozmoz, Zubah, and Kini Solana, Pelagios spans a variety of styles within bass music, from the emotional “Scarred” to the in-your-face insanity of “Everything Crashes.” “I started my journey with the album when COVID-19 started. I figured out I have an opportunity to refresh and make something that will be more ME. I always loved making melodic music, and while touring, I felt like I lost some of my touch and was focusing more on the heavier side, and with Pelagios, I managed to combine melodic feels, heavy drop, and beautiful vocals all in one package.” – WHALES Pelagios begins with “Nobody Like You,” a familiar introduction to Whales’ style, with intense, brash bass notes coupled with some more melodic notes, and that amazing pre-drop arpeggio. From there, it bounces from different styles, never staying on one thread for too long and always engaging the senses. “The Last Time” with Excision & RIELL, a previously released single already sitting at nearly 2 million plays since release, is one of the most emotionally liberating singles on the album and is definitely one of the standouts. Overall, Whales has gone above and beyond with this album, creating a collection of tracks that are unabashedly himself and also push his sound further. We can’t wait to see what more he has for us in the future, but for now, we’ve got Pelagios on repeat! Check it out below!

In a sale finalized last week, Ja Rule auctioned off an NFT of an oil painting with Fyre Festival’s logo that ultimately sold for $122,000. NFTs have become a hot commodity in recent weeks, despite being around for much longer, as more and more high profile individuals have hopped on the trend. As such, much of an NFT’s value can be ascribed to the seller rather than the art (though this is not the case in every instance), so a price tag of over $100,000 for a painting of a logo of a debunked festival from one of its founders is not that surprising. Writes Mixmag, “The buyer, who is currently remaining anonymous, receives the original painting, as well as a one-of-a-kind digital version linked to the Ethereum Blockchain.” In an interview with TMZ, Ja Rule said: “When I first had it made, I was energized — I had embarked on a new business. But then it became a symbol of what could have been. For me, it’s done and over with.” In addition to the monetary gain from selling the art on Flipkick.io, Ja Rule has also been made a part owner of the platform, as well as its head of A&R.

And in force. Lineup announce after lineup announce has flooded social timelines and it feels like the world is beginning to reopen little by little. The producer added his own personal touch to the experience by uploading video responses in addition to the transcribed answers. Following the release of his impressive debut Harmonica Andromeda, KSHMR discussed inspirations and influences on the album, as well as his favorite tracks, production process and more. He also addressed his past with The Cataracs the future of his Welcome to KSHMR series. KSHMR discussed favorite songs on the new album… My personal favorite song — that’s hard. I guess Paula because it’s extremely emotional for me Influences on the album… Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, The Beatles, Queen, Porter, Dr. Dre (Mystical Beginning), My mom Who he’d like to collaborate with… Brandon Flowers, Paul McCartney, Eminem, Porter His earliest EDM recordings… First real EDM tracks were ghost-productions. I was in love with the energy I saw watching festivals like Ultra, that inspired me. I also saw the crowd as a big army, following a general, and that led to songs like Tsunami and Megalodon. And finding his sound… But really early on, you have to accept you don’t know what you’re doing, at least that well, you’re probably not that good, even though we always think our new song is the best song we’ve ever made. So the trick is really to put yourself in a position where you’re making lots of music. How he starts a production… You’ve got to find something you believe in. Melody is the best place to start and then you find the right instrument to deliver that melody Reflecting on The Cataracts… I would say my thoughts on The Cataracs are exactly where I was at the time. Musically, mentally. I mean, I loved hip-hop music and then I was trying to discover pop music and electronic music and make some sort of blend of all three. And we had a lot of success. And it was an amazing ride. I mean, it got us in the door in such a big way. Honestly to come to L.A. and be total nobodies and then to have the biggest song in the world that we had produced and written. This was really big and it gave me lots of opportunities. On if Welcome to KSHMR Vol. 9 will happen… You know what, instead of some dumb excuse I’m going to make the new WTK. When it comes out, tell people you made it happen. Read (and watch) KSHMR’s entire Reddit AMA here.
