Madeon switches gears for just a moment, jumping on a new track from keshi, “beside you.” A departure from Madeon’s usual sound, a low key alternative beat controls the production, led by singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist keshi. When Your EDM found Ani Pohto and featured her for New Artist Spotlight, she had already released a number of singles showcasing her unique blend of celestial vocal work, jazzy, syncopated beats and bold, honest lyrics. Starting very electronica-based, Pohto’s more recent work has been a bit more analog, although nonetheless chilling and thrilling. With her newest single, “Everywoman,” however, is a return to form, and that form is most definitely feminine. Nordic cultures have a literally centuries-old tradition of folk music celebrating the divine feminine and with the folk-styled drums permeating every aspect of “Everywoman,” it seems Pohto wants to bring that ancient vibrancy and worship forward to 2021 and , in her mind, clear some things up about the somewhat unnatural dichotomy that exists in genders and gender roles in the modern world.
While contemplating these issues, it seems Pohto was inspired to set the record straight, using ancient music and a modern, spoken-word style declaration of the greatness of feminine power.
A beautiful sentiment to go with a powerful song. In “Everywoman,” Pohto lists the names of powerful and influential women throughout history, as her strong singing voice ties them all together, proclaiming that this power and strength flows trough all of us; all genders, all people. It’s not something to be afraid of, but rather embraced. The message of “Everywoman” is one steeped in history but it’s also looking to the future for humanity to embrace that feminine power. Released on March 8, international Women’s History Day, “Everywoman” declares that women have a strong and important place in history as well as the future. “Everywoman” is out now and can be streamed on Spotify.

Just twelve days later, it was announced that EDC was moving to October after all. In the time between, and five days before the deadline to transfer 2021 tickets to 2022, Rotella wrote on Reddit that he’d be willing to host an Ask Me Anything where Insomniac attendees, called Headliners, could have their questions answered. Rotella officially began answering questions today at 2pm PST, although the AMA thread itself has been live since Saturday, April 24 to allow people to ask questions; or, to give Insomniac time to formulate responses, depending on who you ask. By the time Rotella began answering today, there were already approximately 1,000 comments on the thread (not all of these were questions, as many questions also had replies from other Reddit users). The top question at the time of launch came from /u/O_RRY: “How do you plan on taking responsibility for the millions of dollars your fans lost in nonrefundable flights/hotels that they lost because of YOUR guarantee?”

/u/Nighthawk759 asked, “Pasquale, why would you firmly announce the event without having official government approval?”
Comment from discussion I am Pasquale Rotella – Experience Creator, Night Owl, and Founder & CEO of Insomniac. Ask Me Anything!.
Rotella maintains that no single news outlet was able to accurately “piece together the timeline of what happened,” since none of the journalists were present during discussions with government officials. He says that any social distancing requirements were to be lifted at the state or county level on May 1st, which heavily if not single-handely influenced Insomniac’s decision to announce the festival on April 8. He goes on to say that enough people had even requested to transfer their tickets to 2022 that they would be able to meet the state’s 50% capacity restriction. Permission for a second weekend was requested “just in case so we would have the option if we wanted to go that route once the State announced 50% capacity, but we were never going to force anyone out of the first and into a second weekend. […] We would’ve gone on sale for a second weekend separately.” With regard to festivals in Southern California, Insomniac’s base of operations and most frequent booking area, Beyond Wonderland SoCal will tentatively been postponed to August 27 & 28, just three weeks after HARD Summer at NOS Events Center in San Bernardino. A second backup date of November 26 & 27 is also on the book in case another postponement is deemed necessary. “Although California announced full reopening on June 15, due to the lack of clarity around what ‘full reopening’ may actually mean, I’ve decided it’s safest to postpone Beyond Wonderland SoCal to our first backup date of August 27 & 28, 2021,” he wrote. “In the event the August date needs to be postponed, we have a second backup date of November 26 & 27, 2021.” There are still plenty of questions left to be answered, and we will continue to update this article as more responses come in. Source: What We Learned From Pasquale Rotella’s EDC AMA on Reddit Via https://www.youredm.com/2021/04/27/what-we-learned-from-pasquale-rotellas-edc-ama-on-reddit/ R3HAB has been keeping listeners on their toes with what to expect from him so far in 2021. However, his latest single is without question the biggest track he’s dropped this year. R3HAB teams up with two titans of their respective genres, Luis Fonsi and Sean Paul, for “Pues,” a sultry Latin meets reggae track that’s sure to be a summer hit! This isn’t R3HAB’s first foray into Latin music, see last year’s Besame (I Need You), but Luis Fonsi and Sean Paul are two of the most accomplished artists on the planet. Luis Fonsi has won multiple Latin Grammy Awards, and is of course, featured on one of the most ubiquitous songs of all time, 2017’s “Despacito.” If you’re like me, you probably remember Sean Paul best from his TRL-era hits “Get Busy” and “Temperature,” but this guy’s still getting the job done too. He’s won multiple Grammys for best reggae album and recently won a Grammy for his 2017 collab with Sia, “Cheap Thrills.” The song starts with what sounds like a marimba playing in the background. Feel that nostalgia when you hear Sean Paul announce everyone on the track. A reggaeton beat comes in and you get those iconic Luis Fonsi vocals. After that Sean Paul gets a verse, and he sounds just like he did all those years ago. Luis Fonsi has another verse before we get into the chorus where Fonsi and Sean Paul go back and forth. I guess this is kind of the drop because the bass really kicks in here. Obviously, R3HAB’s subtle but thoughtful production wraps all these elements up into a nice tidy package. Check out the latest from R3HAB, Luis Fonsi and Sean Paul, “Pues.” Out now on license to Universal Music. This article was first published on Your EDM. Nick teams up with Protocol label mates and frequent collaborators Teamworx for this one. Although this is definitely a different sound from what we’ve seen from these two previously. They’re last official collab was 2019’s “Deep Dark Jungle” and Nick did an edit of Teamworx’s 2020 track “Techno.” Both of those tracks are heavy psy-trance bangers. “World Through Your Eyes” wastes no time getting off the ground. You can hear the synth notes that will permeate through the song immediately. That’s German singer/songwriter Joseph Feinstein you hear coming in over the track. At first his voice stands in stark contrast to the far-off notes. The synth chords become louder in the mix and the synth melody almost becomes one with Feinstein’s vocals, a nice effect. After that we get a nice buildup into the groovy drop. This one will have you closing your eyes and dreaming of being back on a packed dance floor. Rinse and repeat for the second verse and you have a banger that’s sure to get played out in lots of sets as shows start returning. Nicky Romero also recently teamed up with FaderPro for a new production masterclass. Check here for more info, the masterclass includes a special invitation to a special Finish-a-song contest. One lucky winner will have the opportunity to collab with Nicky on a Protocol Records track. The Yacht Week Croatia Ultra Festival route takes a flotilla of yachts, with over 500 party people, along the Croatian coast for an adventure like no other, with electronic dance music at its core. Not only do attendees get to enjoy the stunning floating festival that is The Yacht Week (complete with circle raft parties, buzz boat floating DJ stage, sailing, diving, swimming in secluded natural bays, exploring Palmizana Island, sunset dinner at Fort George, beach yoga, HIIT sessions, freshly made food and much more), they get VIP entry to the first day and night of Ultra Festival Croatia to hang in The Yacht Week’s VIP area (private table service, food service, no queuing, free transfers) and take in the sounds and experience of one of the biggest and best EDM festivals in the world. Though this year’s Ultra Festival route is completely sold out, there are still more to choose from almost year round. We spoke with Wankelmut, who will be performing this year, about The Yacht Week and what it means to be out playing shows again. This last year has been hard on so many people. Obviously staying healthy and keeping a positive mindset have been important, but what’s something that you’ve been doing that’s unique to stay occupied?Since my son was born early this year I was quite busy which was actually great. Apart from that I did a lot of music and collaborated with other artists on upcoming projects. Since everybody is at home there is a lot of ‘open mind’ philosophy which is actually great. You’ve already put out a few tracks this year, the latest being your remix of ‘In My Feelings.’ What was your mindset going into this remix? Were there any different approaches or methods of production you used from what you normally do?First of all that Gia Koka vocal was simply great. She is releasing so many great tunes recently. Henri Purnell did a very good job with the original so it just needed that Wankelmut touch to make it more banging and give it more of a house music edge. As the world opens up, we’re going to see more and more shows open up, but everything else too. Apart from just playing and going to shows, what’s something you’ve really missed during the pandemic?I miss the ‘easy going“ lifestyle especially in Berlin. Everything is super serious now – literally death is waiting behind every corner in a big city. I miss the ‘lightness’ to enjoy a beer at the corner, just like that. This July, The Yacht Week in Croatia is sure to be a massive celebration. What are you most looking forward to there? It’s a very special occasion in a beautiful country. The whole setup is perfect and I can’t wait to spin tunes in the hot sun feeling the Adriatic vibes. When you think of people partying for a week in a flotilla of yachts, what comes to mind?To let loose and enjoy the opportunity in a safe setup. To get back to a certain quality of lifestyle which is not constantly overshadowed by dark clouds coming from the latest news from the television. It’s an opportunity to escape from a lot of things which have been bringing us down. Wankelmut performs on the Buzz Boat at The Yacht Week in Croatia week commencing May 29. His new single ‘Rouge‘ is released on Virgin / Universal on 14th May. This article was first published on Your EDM. After weighing out every option to host a safe and sustainable 2021 Burning Man event, organizers have ultimately made the tough call to move forward next year. This falls within Burning Man’s deadline to come to a decision by the end of the month. Burning Man shares in the Facebook update below: The past 14 months have been a turbulent journey of evolution and change for every human on this planet. We have had to adapt to the twists and turns of a global crisis, complex public health information, and the growing hope that we can start rebuilding our lives together soon. Although here in the United States we may be feeling the weight lifting and the light at the end of the tunnel brightening, we are still in the pandemic, and the uncertainties that need to be resolved are impossible to do so in the time we have. With time comes opportunity to reimagine what Black Rock City can be in 2022. Burning Man has potential to be even more powerful, inspiring, and creatively-driven than ever. The official statement via Burning Man Journal leaves hopeful attendees with some burning questions — “What would it look like if Burning Man culture shaped the future? How do you want to bring the best of what you have to give to the next gathering in the desert? How bold can you go?” Read the full statement here. Burning Man Postpones Until 2022
