Sunset Music Festival will not be happening as planned this summer. Instead, organizers are pushing back Tampa’s signature event until this holiday season. A statement is provided via the fest’s official website: We knew it was a longshot AND we really wanted us all to be together – but the window has closed on the ability to put on a safe festival on the Fourth of July weekend. Thinking outside the box, a special edition of the festival will take place in late December — Sunset 2.0: The Gift Edition. The event will be held at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday, December 26 and Sunday 27, 2020. Sunset 2020 ticketholders have the option to be fully refunded or automatically trade for The Gift Edition. Those who keep their tickets for December will get extra perks and a chance at lowest rate tickets for their friends. Sunset continues: We acknowledge this is not what any of us wanted to hear, but we need to take all necessary precautions under these unprecedented times. We love you and we cannot wait to get back to the party, in a safe environment along with the quality of operations and production that you come to expect from us. See more details below.

At long last, Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley Chapter 1: Snake Oil— the producer’s highly anticipated country album that proves he can truly do it all. Last night, Diplo celebrated the album’s release with a special edition of his livestream variety show “The Thomas Wesley Show,” featuring guest appearances from country pros Thomas Rhett, Zac Brown, Julia Michaels, Orville Peck, Cam and Jonas Brothers. Today, we’re treated to the full album, which boasts some familiar genre-bending tracks as well as new productions. If you’ve been keeping up with Diplo’s country career, you’ll instantly recognize the double Platinum-certified single “Heartless” with Morgan Wallen, “Lonely” with Jonas Brothers, “Do Si Do” with Blanco Brown and “So Long” with Cam — and unless you’ve been living under a rock, most definitely the “Old Town Road” remix for Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. The album also includes brand new collaborations with Zac Brown and Danielle Bradbery, Noah Cyrus, Orville Peck and more. Although the raving reviews are few and far between, country and dance go hand-in-hand in Thomas Wesley’s world. Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley Chapter 1: Snake Oil is out now on Columbia Records. Modeled after the viral app TikTok and its predecessor Vine, Collab is currently only available on iOS as it is being tested out to limited groups of the public. You can sign up to get access to Collab right here. Facebook previously attempted an app in this segment in 2018 with Lasso. Lasso, however, never saw public release and certainly was never launched to the general public. More details of the app and its uses, are as described: “Once you’ve created a collab, you can publish it for others to watch and mix and match further. You can also share yours or others’ creations to Instagram, Facebook Stories, or any other platform, with just a few taps.” We’ll see how this rolls out and if it can make even a dent in the continued rapid success that TikTok has seen. He received in return first a handwritten note, which read: “I’m returning your CD but would like you to know that this is far superior to many of the demos we regularly receive.” Then came a merch package with a note saying, “Keep faith in yourself. I am sure we will do something together.” Finally came a personal phone call from the A&R man and label head. Simon remembers the phone call well, saying that he disturbed Calvin while he was watching Eastenders, eating his dinner in front of the TV. Simon explained that he wanted to thank him for the demos he’d been sending and offered him further encouragement. Years later, when Calvin’s stardom had been realized on a global scale, he was introduced to Simon at Pacha nightclub in Ibiza, recalling the phone call to him and prompting a reconnection between the two. Since then the mutual respect blossomed, with Calvin occasionally reaching out to Simon for remixing advice, to share industry insights and to support Defected Records in DJ sets, radio shows or playlists. Fast-forward to 2020 during COVID-19 induced lockdowns around the world. Like many DJs, Calvin took to live streams to try out new music and the keen ears inside Defected’s A&R department picked up on an unreleased tune in one of his sets. That record was ‘Live Without Your Love.’ In turn, Calvin made a surprise appearance at Defected’s monumental Virtual Festival series in April, bringing the relationship full circle in an organic and suitably innovative way. Simon Dunmore added: “Calvin Harris and I have long-standing mutual respect that goes back 20 years when he initially submitted some of his early demos to Defected. I heard ‘Live Without Your Love,’ reached out and our discussions led to our involvement on the project. I am all about long term relationships and the fact that Calvin remembers our first exchanges says so much to me, and clearly demonstrates that first impressions are lasting impressions.” The record sees Calvin at his most intuitive and rave-inclined, with club ready, penetrating stabs softened by Steve Lacy’s drawl and plenty of acidic synth. ‘Live Without Your Love’ will be out on June 11th via Defected/Columbia Records, and is available for pre-order and pre-save now. Even when he ventures into the world of house like with Jauz on “Bring Em Back” or “Diggid,” he still brings that hard edge. However, for his new remix of “Strangers” by Stereo Jane, he definitely went out of his comfort zone and ended up with something truly incredible. The producer calls it a “production exercise,” but if that’s the case, then he’s already ready to go up a weight class, if we’re to continue the metaphor. The original is an emphatic vocal performance from Stereo Jane with an instrumental to back it; but at the end of the day, the song is really about her voice. TYNAN zeroes in her voice and transforms the slower, more melancholic original into a high-tier party anthem with a brighter progression, higher tempo, and more exciting synths. Stereo Jane says of the remix, “It’s so awesome getting to hear Strangers in a whole different genre. Tynan did an amazing job and we’re so stoked about this remix!” Check out the song below!

As we wrote when the trio previewed the song earlier this week, it has a little bit of everyone in it. “Boogie T’s quasi-reggae style vocal and build, with Subtronics’ out of this world bass design and NGHTMRE’s hard hitting production all roll up into one brilliant package on this one.” This will no doubt be a crowd favorite at festivals and shows once we get back to doing that sort of thing. Check out the new track below!

At just 15 years old, they’ve already begun to leave their mark on the electronic music community, and with every release, we see more and more what they are capable of. Ahead of their newest EP coming out on Never Say Die, today they’re out with his new song “Flair,” dedicated to and featuring their mother. As a writer, I’m often afforded unique perspectives on the artists I write about, and I’m honored to say that I’ve spent time with both Moore Kismet and their mother. The love they share for each other is entirely undeniable, and a song dedicated to her was really only a matter of time. Different than many of Moore’s past, harder singles, “Flair” is beautifully restrained and more melody-focused. Momma Kismet, who now has her own Spotify artist page, provides the vocal chops that Moore utilizes in the track. It’s dreamy and subtle, while still being powerful and meaningful. It’s his first time collaborating with singer & songwriter NISHA and the result is spectacular. HARBER and NISHA first performed the song together live during HARBER’s headline show at Mercury Lounge this past Thanksgiving weekend. Prior to “Pieces,” HARBER along with NISHA and Axel Enhström co-wrote HARBER’s “Savior“ feat. Axel, which was released on 450 Music last Summer. “Pieces” is signed to the Disco Fries imprint, Liftoff Recordings, and is a contagious single that will have you pressing play over and over again. The uplifting, tropical vibes can’t help but brighten your day as NISHA delivers a great performance overtop. Stream “Pieces” by HARBER and NISHA below!

The NYC brother duo are back on the prestigious ZeroThree imprint with their new single, “Fires In The Sky”, bringing forth another mesmerizing electronic masterpiece that adds to their ever-expanding discography. Tom & Pete bridge the gap between progressive and techno with their expertly programmed synth work, deep, driving grooves and of course an Anden track would not be an Anden track without the feature vocals of Pete himself. The boys have created synth-lines and arps that give this record such energy while maintaining a real sinister underlying tom lead bass line that growls and moves at pace. Pete offers a sensational vocal that fits perfectly on top of this infectious arrangement. “Fires In The Sky” may be Anden’s best work yet. Hear it for yourself below!
