Zeds Dead just recently released their latest collection of songs, the Catching Z’s mixtape, back in March. Filled with more ambient and downtempo tunes, it was a nice departure from their typical sound. Now, just three months later, they’re already teasing their next release, “Alive” with MKLA. Not much is publicly available about the track, especially since shows haven’t been around for artists to play out any IDs. But regardless, new Zeds Dead is never, ever a bad thing. The new track is out this Wednesday, June 30! Stay tuned. This article was first published on Your EDM. You don’t have to be a headbanger to appreciate the talent, and his brand new EP ‘Pond Scum‘, signed to Sleeveless Records, is a testament to his great skill of creating intriguing sounds and working them into a fascinating arrangement. “Pond Scum” kicks off the EP with a bang with a heavy metal intro. Big guitars, thundering drums, that culminates in a beautifully chaotic drop. He tastefully adds vocal chops throughout the wubs and screeches to compliment in perfect fashion. “Chicken Bone” caps off the EP in a G-house build, building immense energy until it switches up with a massive half time drop. The creativity is stellar. Big Chocolate finds a way to keep your ears engaged throughout the song’s entirety and leave you wanting more. Listen to the ‘Pond Scum’ EP by Big Chocolate below! Leading the charge is “We Belong Together” with VVVIRTU, a production that amplifies emotion with sweet and summery lyrics, deepened by a thick bassline and immaculate synths. “All Night” builds on the feeling and drives home the concept with energy signature of a late night techno rave. In Speaker Honey’s own words: This EP is special for me. Not only are ‘All Night’ and ‘We Belong Together’ reflect very real emotions that surfaced for me during quarantine. In a way, they reflect the vibe I was craving, and feeling while at home and waiting for our world to open back up. An impressive feat of production prowess, the 2-track Together All Night EP marks Speaker Honey’s much-anticipated return to the mau5trap spotlight after the release of her Interrupted EP in 2020. A rising star in American electronic dance music, Nick Elliott is a talented performer, music producer, and songwriter. After representing Team USA at World duathlon and triathlon events, a career-ending injury brought Elliott to his second love, the world of EDM.
We introduced him with his nocturnal banger ‘Through This Night’ some months ago. He’s now back with the summery, anthemic EDM jam ‘Summer At 16‘. For the occasion, Nick had teamed up with vocalist Brandon Colbein.
Speaking about the song, he said: “Summer at 16 is about the reflections on a young summer love. The lyrics guide the listener through the feelings of first romance and the longing to go back in time once more. “

A global pandemic that shuttered businesses, left hundreds of thousands dead, hundreds of thousands more unemployed and plenty still struggling even now as the world begins to open up. While we collectively found alternative ways to keep afloat, there’s no denying that many industries were decimated, including the electronic music industry. Every year, the International Music Summit (IMS) releases a report that features full and detailed data on the last year in the electronic music industry, including an overall industry valuation and highlighting key trends, providing analysis into the economic impact of the global pandemic on our sector. Sadly, however predictably, after 10 years of sustained growth, the impact of the global pandemic has reset the industry to levels last recorded more than a decade ago, with the value falling by 54% to $3.4 billion in 2020. Some sectors saw actual growth. The DJ Software and Hardware sector experienced record growth as the world found new ways to entertain itself during lockdown, with an estimated 23% increase year on year to $1.1 billion. The recorded music market grew by 7% from 2019 to 2020 to $22 billion, even though electronic music share declined in the US by 11% and the UK by 2%, lowering the global value of electronic music, relatively speaking. The biggest hit to EDM’s value in 2020 was the loss of live shows. More than 200 music festivals were cancelled or postponed, resulting in hundreds and thousands of people out of work and $3.4 billion in value lost, down 78% year on year. A huge rebound can be expected as the live industry finds safe routes to reopening and the demand for events is bigger than ever, with Skiddle data showing the value of festival tickets sold in March 2021 was more than the whole of 2020 combined, the value of festival tickets sold was up 3999% in March 2021 compared to the same period last year. The global live music industry is expected to recover to 160%/45% growth in 2021/22.

High energy dance selects are the focus, with a range of styles most often heard on the Mainstage at festivals. According to Beatport’s Curation Manager Jordan Mafi, this dedicated genre combines Big Room, Electro House, Future House, Midtempo and Speed House into one category. Mainstage is already receiving rave reviews from DJs and labels alike… I think that the new Mainstage section will provide a more efficient and tightened up referencing for songs that have the same type of energy and belong to most main stages. – Tchami It’s amazing to see Beatport making moves to make the genre more competitive and appealing! Even for our artists, the name ‘Mainstage’ has a nice ring to it. – SPINNIN’ RECORDS We’re excited that Beatport is giving fans a place to gather across genres because that’s what music is all about — bringing people together. – Ultra Music Currently, the Mainstage Top 10 features music from David Guetta, Terry Golden, VRDGO, MORTEN, Mike Cervello, MARTEN HØRGER, Blasterjaxx, TAIGA, Steve Angello and more. As festivals make their comeback, we’re excited to hear how this genre evolves. Explore Beatport’s Mainstage here.

Pineapple and pizza? Debatable. Watermelon and mustard? Novel. Valentino Khan and Four Loko? Spicy. In what might be one of the year’s most unforeseen moves for music, alcoholic beverage brand Four Loko will be kicking off their own record label. Their first impression is provided by Valentino Khan, the EDM jack-of-all-trades producer, with the song “Digest.” Joining him, Khan has teamed up with Wifisfuneral and YBN Almighty Jay to make a nocturnal, hip-hop vibe. “Digest” is another example of Valentino Khan expanding his sound. Although he’s been a producer on a hip-hop classic like “Bubble Butt” by Major Lazer, “Digest” sees Khan venturing into the SoundCloud-rap style of production. In turn, Wifisfuneral and YBN Almighty Jay spit flexible bars into cunning flows. Together, “Digest” is a sure-fire add to any 2021 summer playlist. This song serves as a great stepping stone for several parties. On one hand, Valentino Khan is diving head first into a sound that we don’t normally hear from his official releases. Although he’s produced tracks for artists like 2 Chainz and T.I., that was before he became an EDM icon making grimy trap hits and hard house bops. It will be fascinating to see what Valentino Khan can do here and what other industry links he can pull unto future projects. “Digest” also sets the stage for Four Loko Records. What kind of record label do they want to be and what kind of artists and styles will they capitalize on? Although we don’t have enough information to answer that, it will be an interesting year to see what other projects and collaborations this new imprint will churn out. Make sure to take a listen to “Digest” from Valentino Khan, Wifisfuneral and YBN Almighty Jay out now on Four Loko Records. This article was first published on Your EDM. The 8th edition of the festival was originally set to take place at Park Mladezi in Split, Croatia last July. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it pushed back until July 2021 — and now it’s moving again to July 2022. The lineup included Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, DJ Snake, Galantis, Marshmello, Pendulum, Richie Hawtin, Steve Aoki and more. Ultra Europe shares in a new update: Although it has been a difficult year for all of us, the world appears to be on the road to recovery, including in Ultra Europe’s host country of Croatia, where we have continuously tried to obtain approval for an Ultra Europe 2021 production. Unfortunately, due to ongoing COVID-19 official government safety measures, specifically in relation to mass gatherings, the 8th edition of Ultra Europe has been rescheduled to July 8,9 and 10, 2022. Tickets remain valid for the rescheduled Ultra Europe music festival. Per the statement below, Ticketholders will be contacted via email for more information on tickets and “refund conditions.”

Just an hour drive from Tomorrowland’s festival grounds in Boom, Belgium is the city of Hasselt, where Pukkelpop is scheduled to take place in August. Mayor Steven Vandeput reportedly has “full understanding” of the decision made by mayors of Boom and Rumst concerning Tomorrowland. However, he has granted permission for Pukkelpop to move forward as planned. “Each mayor decides autonomously about their own territory,” he shared via VRT’s De zevende dag. “We made this decision based on our own evaluation, after discussions with experts which made us say: we have the confidence that we can do this in a safe way.” Thus, Pukkelpop is set to take place over August 19 – 22, 2021. The event will welcome up to 75,000 festival-goers who must provide proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test. With 52 days remaining, the Pukkelpop lineup has yet to be announced.
