Nostalgix, our favorite 90s it girl keeps the heat coming with “Friends” featuring Amy Miyú. The bold and spirited “Friends” production hits even harder than much of Nostalgix’s already impressive catalogue. Amy Miyú serves up sassy and abrasive vocals, backed by a “Girl Power” mentality and hyped up Nostalgix signature sounds. Not only is the song a banger, it perfectly fits Nostalgix’s overall project aesthetic — girly but sporty, sparkly and grainy, fun and empowering. Also, demonstrated here by the “Friends” artwork, which is inspired by the hottest Y2K toy, Bratz Dolls. Nostalgix has a bright summer ahead as the Vancouver artist is set to play her first run of US festivals, with her debut taking place at HARD Summer this weekend. Followed up by sets at Fvded in the Park, Beyond Wonderland PNW, Spring Awakening, EDC Orlando, Audiotistic and more. “Friends” is out now via Thrive Music! Listen here! Nostalgix – Friends ft. A bit of a Spanish ambience in there for the romantics to ruminate on and technically equipped to go off in the club, this is one single with all the parts in play to pop off. It’s no surprise that Matroda knows what it takes to make a track right, he’s got over 50,000,000 plays to his name and artists like Diplo, Tiesto, Dj Snake, Tchami, and Don Diablo have all played out his music in recent times. Now Matroda is embarking on a crazy long tour in North America, hitting a ton of stops along the way. San Pacho is someone not to sleep on as well, he’s released with a bunch of well known labels like UKF, Confession, In Rotation, Divided Souls, and Space Yacht and gained the support of the king himself on his debut EP: Skrillex. The standout performance exclusively featured all Kaskade originals, edits, IDs, and collaborations, including productions with Galantis, Project 46, CID, Will K, Chemical Surf and more. Toward the end of the show, Kaskade brought out deadmau5, who threw down earlier in the night as testpilot, to rinse out their legendary song together, “I Remember” featuring Haley Gibby. Kaskade previously shared his excitement for the event: Every time I play in Los Angeles, it evokes this feeling that is unmatched anywhere else in the world. It’s that sensation of getting into your own bed after being away for too long, it’s heat in the cold and it’s comfort when anxiety has been playing its game. Any show I play in LA is something I keep protected. I make sure that when I do it, I come correct because it’s that meaningful to me. LA is home. Laced with magical moments from Kaskade’s past, present, and future, the SoFi Stadium performance is one to behold. Watch here — and shoutout to YouTuber VictorVisits for capturing the show! Nitepunk shares, “I think [MTV] was my own reflection on that period, it felt like an entire scene around the world was staged, media feeding minds like never before etc, communities split up in different extreme directions.” Truly, we can all relate. Channeling that madness happening around the world into his art, Nitepunk landed on “MTV” and reached out to Los Angeles rapper Sugi Dakks to take it to the next level. Nitepunk says he “absolutely destroyed it with performance and lyrics, really nailed the attitude and the message I was going for.” Which brings us to the visual expression of the track, for which Nitepunk invited his friends and fans to simply party together on a rooftop, amplifying the roots of dance music. Though the heavy-hitting production is driven by dark and edgy tones, the music video concept is as wholesome as it gets — and we’re in love with the message. Nitepunk shares, the idea here was to “rage together on the music we love and capture the emotions and moments of total freedom and joy that’s usually taken from all the negativity and negative media around the world, that’s always trying to take our focus away from things that make us feel alive, and that make us be in the present…” Watch here, ahead of the official release on HARD’s YouTube channel, and link up with Nitepunk below.
